Working in the Church: Understanding Its Mission, Culture and Your Place Within It
Working in the Church is a two-part online professional formation seminar for those serving across Catholic organisations, ministries, parishes, education, health and social services. Across two engaging online sessions, participants will deepen their understanding of the Church’s mission and culture, explore their own place within that mission, and consider what it means to work effectively and purposefully within the life of the Church.
Whether deeply familiar with the Catholic tradition or relatively new to it, the program offers an opportunity to grow in understanding, strengthen professional practice and connect everyday work with the wider mission it serves.
Program
Archbishop Mark Coleridge
Emeritus Archbishop of Brisbane, opens the program, reflecting broadly on why the Church does what she does and the place of those who work within her organisations in carrying the mission forward.
Father Brian Lucas
Former National Director of Catholic Mission, explores more particularly what the Church is, how its structures and relationships work, the place of lay and professional staff within its mission, and questions of collaboration, leadership, service and finding meaning in one’s work.
Senior practitioners
Will also join to reflect on what Catholic identity and mission mean in the practical life of their organisations.
