Strategic Snapshot for Catholic Schools

A focused external review to clarify what matters most and what should happen next.

Catholic schools face a range of competing priorities, from strengthening Catholic identity and educational mission to enrolments, leadership, community engagement and long-term sustainability. The challenge is often knowing where to focus attention and resources to achieve the greatest impact.

The New Shore Strategic Snapshot provides an independent, high-level assessment of your school's current position, identifying significant opportunities, challenges and priorities for the future.

It is not a strategic plan or a comprehensive school review. It is a practical starting point to help school leadership step back, see the bigger picture and determine where attention should be directed next.

What does it involve?

The process begins with a 60–90 minute conversation with the principal and relevant members of the leadership team to understand the school, its current circumstances and strategic priorities.

New Shore will then:

  • Review relevant documents, strategic plans and available school information.
  • Consider areas such as Catholic identity and mission, enrolments, community engagement, leadership, governance, communications and organisational sustainability, as relevant.
  • Identify significant opportunities, constraints and areas requiring attention.

The purpose is not to examine every aspect of the school in exhaustive detail, but to develop an overall strategic picture and determine where attention should be directed first.

When might a Strategic Snapshot be useful?

A Strategic Snapshot is particularly useful where a school:

  • Is considering its future direction or reviewing its strategic priorities.
  • Faces changing enrolment patterns, community expectations or other emerging challenges.
  • Sees opportunities for growth or improvement but is unsure where to begin.
  • Wants to strengthen its Catholic identity, mission or community engagement.
  • Would benefit from an independent, external perspective.
  • Is considering a larger strategic or organisational development project.

What will you receive?

A practical written report providing an external perspective on:

Your school's current strategic position

Its principal opportunities and challenges

Recommended priorities

A practical pathway for what should happen next

This is followed by a conversation with Bernard Toutounji to discuss the findings and consider what, if anything, should happen next.
